Farm Fresh Eggs

Our egg layers, Golden Comets, are a cross between New Hampshire and Rhode Island Reds.  Their gentle temperament and good egg laying capability make them the breed of choice for our farm.  They are raised on pasture in a mobile greenhouse, providing shelter and a place to roost and lay their eggs.  Each day, we open the door and our girls (as we like to call them) are allowed to roam.  We keep them safe by using electronetting (electrified portable fencing) and rotate them to where the grass is the tallest.  At night, they are closed in for protection from predators.

Every day, someone at the farm gathers eggs.  The baskets of eggs are carried to the house and washed in our egg room.  The eggs are then sized and packed into recycled cartons and labeled for sale.
