Cool mountain spring water drains from our mill pond and gently flows 45 feet in the confines of a wooden flume that overshoots a ten foot waterwheel.  This water’s short journey is the force that drives the East Fork Gristmill.

Our stone grinding process utilizes the whole grain; nothing is removed. Milling is done in Small quantities to ensure freshness and reduce temperature. Keeping the grains cool preserves the heat sensitive nutrients and makes for a much more flavorful and healthy product.

Stone ground heirloom corn offers superior flavor and quality. To enhance this flavor, we grow a variety of heirloom corn and allow the fully mature corn to dry in the field before harvest.  At East Fork Farm, native grown corn, such as Hickory King White Dent Corn, is the only “grist for the mill.”
